Governor Pen Portraits

Mr Kevin Cooper
I have served on the governing body of Priors Mill Church of England Primary School for twenty years and am currently the Chair of Governors. I also serve on the Resources & School Improvement Committees which meet a minimum of three times a year. I joined the governing body when my son attended Priors Mill, initially as a Parent Governor and have remained on after he progressed to the secondary sector.
The school ethos, passion of the staff and welcome I first received when visiting the school, in addition to the desire for educational excellence is the reason I selected Priors Mill Church of England Primary School for my own Son.   We strive to continually improve what the school offers now and in the future for your children.
Mr Mike Boyle
I have served as a Governor of prior’s Mill since 2013 and I support the Board of Governors to promote and improve the ethos, welfare and education of our children. I am a former pupil with two children who have also attended this school. As a Manager within a Police Force, I am in charge of the design and delivery of student officer programmes, online digital learning and leadership training. I am a qualified educator teaching pre and post-16 education and training from basic skills to A-levels for the past 30 years. I am also a qualified sports coach.
Mrs Clair Craggs
I am pleased to have had the opportunity to contribute to the work of governing body since 2017. I have a background in education, previously working as a primary school teacher occupying various roles and I am currently training to be an Educational Psychologist. I am passionate about enabling children to succeed, flourish as individuals and make positive contributions to their community. I hope to work collaboratively with staff, families and children to support Priors Mills on its journey.
Mrs Norma English
I have been a Governor of Priors’ Mill School for many years and in that time I have had the privilege of working alongside some exceptional Headteachers. I have lived on Wolviston Court for nearly fifty years and have three grown up children, all of whom attended Priors’ Mill School or Billingham Church of England School as it was then. Although I am retired now, I have always worked in schools, the latest being twenty-seven years as School Secretary at a Special Needs school in Stockton. My role on the Governing Body is as Foundation Governor which means I represent the Church of England. I am also churchwarden at the nearby St. Mary Magdalene church.
Miss Lisa Lazell
I joined the Governing Body as a Co-opted member in September 2020. My professional background is as a Senior Manager in Health and Social Care where I have worked particularly within the area of additional needs and disabilities. I have previously worked in Christian ministry and hope that both my professional experience and faith will support and serve our pupils and staff to be the best that they can be.
Mrs Rachael Swales
I was recently appointed as Staff Governor. I am excited about my new role as it provides me with further opportunity to work alongside staff and families whilst ensuring the children have the opportunity to flourish and grow in their talents. I have worked at Prior’s Mill since 2012 and I am very passionate about the school and what the future holds for us. My time as a teaching assistant has enabled me to work across both key stages forming strong relationships with staff, pupils and parents. I’m happily married and have two daughters who attend secondary school. In my spare time I enjoy watching my youngest daughter play grassroots football and my eldest referee football matches. As a family we are also involved with Redcar Speedway.
Mrs Joanne Measor
I am a School Business Manager at another Stockton school and have worked there for eleven years. I am responsible for finance, HR, premises and health and safety, as well as overseeing the school office and administration procedures. I am excited to start supporting the Priors Mill Community and look forward to sharing my experience with the Governing Body. I enjoy travelling and recently started practising yoga.
Mr Patrick Boyd
I joined the governing body as a Parent Governor in 2021; I work as a brain injury case manager, and am a visiting lecturer, and trustee for a number of local and national organisations. I feel privileged to be able to contribute to the development of our school and to ensure all children have access to the very best opportunities and experiences to help them to learn, develop and succeed. I hope my professional background, and my roots in the local community, will enable me to help the school to thrive in all areas.
Mrs Nicola Dunn
I was delighted to begin my appointment as Ex-officio governor at Prior’s Mill in September 2021. I am a serving headteacher in a Church of England primary school in Hartlepool where I have worked for 17 years. I am passionate about ensuring that an excellent quality of education is provided for all children at Prior’s Mill. I look forward to working with staff, children and families to support school in its continuous drive to improve outcomes for all.
