Our Faith
There is a distinct Christian ethos within the school and we have strong links with our local Team Parish of Billingham which is located around the school.
Prior’s Mill Church of England Primary School was formed as a new school in 1990 following the amalgamation of Northfield Infant and Billingham Church of England Junior School. The school has a voluntary controlled status which indicates the partnership between Stockton-on-Tees Education Authority and the Church of England, represented by the Durham Diocesan Board of Education, the Parish of Billingham St Mary Magdalene and the local community. Its origins go back to the 1850’s when the foundation was written. Today it is a modern, thriving Church of England Primary School aiming to give the highest standard of education to its pupils. In 2012 we celebrated 160 years of the original Junior Schools Foundation.
The key features of our church school distinctiveness are:
- Daily Collective Worship with distinctive Christian elements which inspire and enhance the spiritual development of our pupils and staff, of all faiths or of none.
- Observance of Christian festivals and the seasons of the church year.
- Active and affirming relationships with the local Team Parish of Billingham
