Attendance

Attendance at Prior’s Mill is very important; it is vital that all children attend school each day and that absence only occurs in serious circumstances. Learning is built upon each day and gaps in learning will make children feel uncertain. This is why at Prior’s Mill we have a minimum target of 95% attendance.

Prior’s Mill  is required to complete registers of children’s attendance every session (morning and afternoon) and any absence must be recorded. Therefore it is essential that you inform us if your child is absent for any reason, preferably by telephoning the school office (01642 650 426). Mrs Twomey, Mrs Cartman and Ms Clapp in the school office will contact parents of any child who is absent without reason.  A home visit may also be made if it has not been possible to make telephone contact. Persistent absence or absence that has deteriorated will be referred to our Pupil Welfare Officer, Mrs Hanson, and may lead to legal action.

Medical appointments should be made outside of school time wherever possible.

If you need to take your child out of school during term time for whatever reason, you must apply for leave to the school. You will need to explain why it is necessary for your child to miss school and evidence may be requested from you. Please use the Leave of absence form on our Useful Forms page

Please note that from September 2013, in accordance with changes to the school attendance regulations, Prior’s Mill will no longer authorise holidays in term time except in exceptional circumstances.  Please follow this link for further information:
